Andy Inglis (UK): 5000 & founder of the legendary music venue “The Luminaire”

5000 is a live events and project management company for the music industry and works with artists like Civil Civic, Hanne Hukkelberg and Ungdomskulen. Andy co-founded, co-owned and managed the now-closed Luminaire live music venue in London, winner of London Live Venue of The Year 2006 and UK Live Venue of The Year 2007.

Matthew Hall (UK): Runs & DJs at the “White Heat Club” in London

Topic: “How to build a cool club night”. What does it take to gain people’s trust in your bookings? Are there any tricks?

Nigel Adams (UK): Director Full Time Hobby

Topic: London based independent record Full Time Hobby has released music by bands such as Tunng, Fujiya & Miyagi and White Denim to name a few. Mr. Adams will tell us about his international work with the label and the building of the bands.

Topic: ROSA’s and MXD’s export strategy with particular focus on their Spot On Denmark event.

Bob visited us last year and we are so happy to be able to welcome him back! In the recording world, Bob Power has produced, recorded, or mixed hundreds of pop and jazz recordings for such artists and groups as Erykah Badu (1998 Grammy “Best Female R&B Vocal”, “Best Female R&B Album”), D’Angelo, India.Arie, Chaka Khan, MeShell N’degeOcello Ozomatli (2002 Grammy “Best Alternative Latin Album”), De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Miles Davis, the Roots, Tony Toni Toné, Macy Gray, Curtis Mayfield, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Spike Lee, The Brand New Heavies, Big Daddy Kane, Maceo Parker, Pat Metheny, KRS 1, Phylis Hyman, The Jungle Brothers, Quincy Jones (Remix), Greg Osby, and Run DMC.

Bob will be hosting the masterclass on Friday and Saturday.

Per Ravnaas: Live Remote recording and broadcast audio

Per Ravnaas has spent a life time working for NRK, Norway’s broadcasting network. For the duration of his career Ravnaas has specialized in the acoustic recording from jazz to classical ensembles. He will be discussing his live recording techniques with his remote recording truck.

Jeremy Lemos: Live sound engineer/ Studio Owner/Musician

Jeremy Lemos from Chicago, USA is currently working as a live tech with Sonic Youth and Iron and Wine. He has recently closed his recording studio of ten years, Semaphore Recording. He will share his experiences in both worlds of live and studio production, and his perspective on the current trends effecting both these areas.

Johan Berntsen: Live sound engineer/ Production Manager

Johan Berntsen has been the production manager for Kaizers Orchestra for nine years and freelances for throughout Norway. He is joining the conversation with Jeremy Lemos regarding live sound, touring, and the business of live performance.

Mathias Stuboe: Remix of Stavanger’s Composer In Residence Martin Matalon

Mathias Stubø (Proviant Audio) is 18 year old drummer/multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and DJ from Tønsberg, Norway. Stubø blends retro funk, disco and soul with modern electronic music into a warm, eclectic blend. His aesthetic approach draws on the analogue nuances of the 70′s seamlessly connecting this “retro” age with the cutup electronica sound of modern times. Stubø will be sharing his approach to his remix, addressing problem areas and his creative musical solutions.

Paal Asle Pettersen: Circuit Bending Workshop

Pål Asle Pettersen is a Stavanger based electro-acoustic composer. He will share the basic techniques needed to open up electrical toys and turn them into musical devices. This will be a hands on workshop and will require prior registration due to a limited capacity.
